This month we are so excited to welcome Amanda Davis to our faculty here at EYC! She began on February 5th and already she is forming great connections with our students and bringing a positive energy to the school. We are thrilled to have her with us.
To learn more about Amanda, we asked her a few questions. Here is what we asked and what she said.
What do you teach at EYC?
I teach many of the elective courses.
What have you done in the past and how do you bring that to your work at EYC?
I bring in the skills I’ve learned from being a single mother of two, previous work in sales and investment banking, and charity work. I’ve always loved being able to explain or teach someone one-to-one and see them light up when it makes sense. I enjoy being creative and trying different methods for different types of learning.
What is your favorite drink you can buy at a store? What about your favorite snack?
My favorite drink is a Starbucks refrigerated mocha coffee or a diet Mountain Dew. My favorite snack is honey roasted pecans and popcorn.
What attracted you to EYC?
The 1:1 teaching and helping kids learn and grow at their own individual pace.
Tell us about your family.
I have 2 boys, Oliver (10) and Teddy (5).
What is one thing you are really proud of?
Running five full marathons.
What is something people might not know about you?
I can recite the 25 helping verbs.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you eat?
Is cereal a soup? Explain your answer.
No way! It’s a dessert if anything.
What is the background picture on your cell phone?
The serenity prayer.
If you could instantly become an expert at any skill, what would you choose?
A comedian. The ability to always make someone smile or laugh. Or an astrophysicist!
